Beat the Devil at his own game. Question is proud to announce The Killing Stone, a new original deck builder wrapped in a folk horror narrative from the developers behind The Blackout Club and The Magic Circle.

The Killing Stone wraps the familiar card battler genre with beautiful 3D art, animated game board figurines with dazzling effects, haunted sound and music, and an original narrative set in the 17th century in a remote region of the Arctic circle. The game features a unique first-person perspective centered around a game within the game – a battle for souls. You must use your wits to save a cursed family and clean their sins by beating a series of demons – and the Devil himself.

As a Maven, master of the dark arts, you will explore the mansion in first person and talk with family members and animal familiars. Collect new cards and game figurines while racing the clock before the Devil arrives. Each card battle forms part of a bargaining ritual where you mediate a family member’s inherited evils – trading for boons to tilt the odds in your favor, or banes which strengthen the demons’ hands. You only have but a few rituals to make a difference before the final Reckoning is due.

The game features voiceover by the talented Emma Gregory, who plays the matriarch of the family, Mariken Svangård. The eerie tone of the game and setting are further enhanced by the game being told in two styles: a period 17th century English, and a more modern English. Players will be allowed to switch both text and VO to enjoy the game in the version they prefer. Further details and other voice talent will be announced closer to the game’s launch.
