The hunt begins anew: Way of the Hunter 2 is now available in Early Access on Steam, inviting players to step into the wild and actively shape the future of the franchise alongside the developers at Nine Rocks Games.
Way of the Hunter 2 launches in Early Access with a clear goal: to create the most immersive and authentic hunting simulation possible, together with its players.
The game is fully playable, offering a solid core experience, but remains a work in progress by design. By opening development early, the team ensures that community feedback can meaningfully influence systems, mechanics, and future content while they are still flexible and evolving.
The current Early Access version provides a strong foundation of gameplay systems and features, including:
- The vast Canadian hunting region of New Laurentia, ready to explore
- A selection of rifles, shotguns, bows, and game calls
- A hunting dog companion for tracking
- Strategic hunting gear like decoys, blinds, animal calls, a monopod shooting stick, and advanced equipment
- Exploration using a vehicle, along with tents for fast travel and time skipping
Early Access is expected to last approximately six months, though the timeline may evolve depending on the scope of community feedback and development progress. In addition, the move to Unreal Engine 5 marks a major step forward for the franchise. It enables improved performance, advanced features, and long-term support.
The full 1.0 release of Way of the Hunter 2 will be priced at $39.99 / €39.99. Those who want to go hunting earlier than that, will pay only $29.99 / €29.99 at launch of Early Access on March 26th 2026 – and until Thursday, April 9th 2026, a 20% discount will reduce the price even further to $23.99 / €23.99.
