NACON and studio Spiders are pleased to present the creative process behind the soundtrack for the narrative RPG GreedFall II: The Dying World, crafted by renowned composer Olivier Derivière in a new Deep Dive video. Originally responsible for the music in the first game, as well as that of A Plague Tale: Innocence and Dying Light 2, the composer collaborated with the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra to record the soundtrack for GreedFall II. The game will be released in early access on Steam on 24 September, 2024.

While the first GreedFall focused on the discovery of the world of Teer Fradee, exploring more natural sounds, including a strong drum presence, Olivier Derivière had the soundscape evolve to match the change in context and environment experienced by players. In the cities of Gacane, the Old continent, players are immersed in very different cultures, where Venetian art for example, which is characteristic of the Baroque period, has a strong presence. These elements have influenced the music, which is highly orchestral and in which the guitar plays a central role.

In addition, GreedFall II features adaptive music, which changes according to players’ actions, whether in combat or based on decisions made, which have a real impact on the unfolding of the story and quests. GreedFall II’s soundtrack takes advantage of the early access format, as players’ feedback may be taken into account to evolve certain aspects of the music.
