Developed by Round 2 Games, Guardian of Lore is a platform game in which we must protect the native legends of the Latin America folklore. It will be launched on Steam on May 18th, at the cost of U$ 17.99. This is the first title developed by Round 2 Games for PC, which had previous experiences with learning platforms and mobile games. There is also the idea of launching the game for other platforms, such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The ideia behind this plot comes from Leopoldo Aizersztein mind, head of Round 2 Games: “I’ve been a little tired of always facing the same type of enemies in video games. When I started making my research into LATAM mythology, The Walking Dead was at its peak and EVERYTHING was zombies related. Also, I heard of a couple of myths that were really interesting/funny. I was a fan of Greek Mythology, Roman, Nordic, and so on, but I feel like it’s been enough”.
In a mystic library, prince Sayri must protect the legends of latin american folklore, which have been threatened by an evil force who wishes to destroy them. Get ready to travel to worlds inspired by ancient legends like Yerba Mate, the Flower of Lirolay, the Snowy Mountains of Merida, and many others, with the power of the Amulet of Yebichai.
The locations and enemies have strong influence in its visuals, which can be defeated with weapons or magical spells. “There are countless versions of each story, there aren’t real written records of any of them, so I had to choose each of them carefully trying to be as truthful to them as possible”, says Leopoldo.
Each one also has a boss which gives you its knowledge after being defeated. This knowledge gives the prince new powers and abilities, which will become important tools to protect the mystic library and maintain the legends to the future generations to come.
“In my opinion, it’s amazing what we’ve accomplished”, Leopoldo added. “We struggled with bugs, criticism, and who knows what else, but now, I can honestly say that we’ve done a game in Ecuador that is able to compete internationally in the market. I think the whole team has put some part of themselves in this game and I couldn’t wish for more”.
