Jackson, NJ – June 5, 2014 — Six Flags Great Adventure, the world’s largest theme park, recently dominated the USA Today list of top 10 thrills for 2014. According to theme park expert and writer Arthur Levine, three of the park’s major thrill rides rank among the best in the country, more than any other theme park on the list.
Levine ranked the world’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, Kingda Ka, No. 2 on the list. Kingda Ka launches riders from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds before catapulting them 45 stories into the sky. Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, opening soon as the world’s tallest and fastest drop ride, took the No. 3 spot. Zumanjaro stands on the face of Kindga Ka, and will hoist riders 41 stories before plunging them back to Earth at speeds of up to 90 mph. The ride is expected to debut in the coming weeks. The relentless El Toro, one of the tallest and fastest wooden coasters in the world with incredible weightlessness, or “airtime,” ranked No. 8. Levine named El Toro the best wooden coaster in the world earlier this year.
Six Flags Great Adventure is open daily. Kingda Ka operates on a limited schedule while the construction and engineering teams complete their finishing touches on Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom. Both rides will open daily within the coming weeks. For more information and park operating hours, visit www.sixflags.com/greatadventure or call 732-928-2000.
