VGX

New York, NY, December 3, 2013 – VGX, the inaugural all-day live multi-platform gaming event, revealed today that it will include a special one-night only performance of the music of “Grand Theft Auto V,” featuring a host of artists from the game’s soundtrack and score, and streamed onVGXLIVE.com and across all screens and gaming devices worldwide.

VGX (#VGX) also announced that “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be on hand along with an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated game “South Park: The Stick of Truth.”  Additionally, VGX unveiled its first wave of exclusive world premieres that will be debuted during the three-hour live stream on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT.

The new VGX format dives deeper into the world of gaming and extends its coverage beyond awards presentations.  Fans will have unprecedented access to the industry’s top developers and talent and more exclusive world premieres than ever including exclusive new looks at “Titanfall,” “Quantum Break,” “South Park: The Stick of Truth,” “Broken Age,” “Dying Light,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.” VGX will also feature Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime presenting a new look at an upcoming Wii U game.  Additional exclusives to be revealed shortly.

“For years gamers have been telling us to focus on content over celebrity,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Vice President, Event Production, Talent Development & Studio Relations, Viacom Entertainment Group.  “We are stripping away anything that takes time away from world premieres and interviews with the community of game developers that the fans want to hear from.  We are also thrilled to be working with Rockstar Games to present the music of Grand Theft Auto V in a performance you won’t see anywhere else.”

While its roots lie in the Video Game Awards, VGX ‘s brand new studio format will do away with the “Hollywood award show” in favor of a gamer focused studio show, that will feature interviews, more world premieres and game demos.  The new format features more games, less fame, in an intimate studio setting.

VGX (#VGX) is an all-day gaming experience and the next generation of Spike TV’s “Video Game Awards” franchise.  With the potential to reach over 100 million households across all screens and gaming devices worldwide—including Xbox One, Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 (PS3™), Twitch, iOS and Android devices, and available globally on VGXLIVE.com, Hulu,  Yahoo Screen, the Yahoo Screen app, Steam and Viacom Media Networks properties Spike.comComedyCentral.com,MTV.comMTV2.comBET.com and GameTrailers.com—it will be the most widely distributed live gaming event of all time.  VGX will continue the Video Game Awards’ legacy of showcasing world-premiere game trailers, but will now offer extended demos of next-gen games, 1-on-1 interviews, and an unrivaled interactive experience through exclusive social-media partner Twitter.  The VGX-Twitter partnership will give viewers a direct impact on the stream by allowing them to vote on show order, unlock additional content, and participate in live Twitter-powered Q&A interviews with talent and developers.
