Universal Cinema to Host Fate of the Furious Cars and Props Display

Universal City, California – April 18, 2017 – Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk become headquarters for Universal Pictures’ blockbuster new movie The Fate of the Furious, inviting fans to see the No. 1 film in the world at the all-new Universal Cinema, get up close and personal with original prop cars and costume displays and cap off the experience aboard the theme park’s exciting thrill ride, The Fast & Furious—Supercharged, which features stars from the original film series.

As the one-stop destination for all things Fast & Furious, Universal CityWalk’s new state-of-the art Universal Cinema offers movie buffs the best seat in the house, where they can kick back on ultra-plush recliner seats in Hollywood screening-room quality theatres to watch their favorite characters reunite on the silver screen.

The turbo-charged takeover also provides guests with an exclusive look at the high-speed vehicles from the new movie on display both at Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios Hollywood.  This includes “Dom” Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) 1970 Dodge Charger, which has been souped-up to an Ice Charger with a 707 horsepower, 6.2 liter V8 engine to enable the vehicle to zip along snow and ice terrains in the new film. Other cars on display include the International MXT driven by Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Hobb’s Dodge Ram, Roman Pearce’s (Tyrese Gibson) 2004 Bentley GT and the Ripsaw driven by Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges).

Authentic wardrobe worn by Dom and Hobbs will also be prominently featured within the lobby of the new Universal Cinema.

Universal Studios Hollywood also invites guests on an electrifying thrill ride aboard it’s all-original “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” mega-attraction. The Studio Tour’s grand finale ride features characters made famous by Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Luke Evans and catapults guests into the high-stakes underground world of fast cars in a harrowing escapade – at perceived speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour – to save one of their own from an international crime cartel.

Universal Studios Hollywood Employees Volunteer for 12th Annual Day of Giving

Universal City, California, November 1, 2016 As part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s annual “Day of Giving” community outreach event, hundreds of employee volunteers will band together to bring magic to six LA-based non-profit community organizations on Thursday, November 10, 2016.

The inspirational “Day of Giving” event is a yearly Universal Studios Hollywood tradition designed to connect employees with diverse community organizations, many of which are beneficiaries of the Discover A Star Foundation whose mission is to empower individuals and families to lead more productive and fulfilling lives.

On this 12th “Day of Giving” anniversary, Universal Studios Hollywood will serve as home base for two of the six event locations, hosting Operation School Bell and Habitat for Humanity.

In support of Operation School Bell, 250 homeless children from over 20 LAUSD elementary and middle schools will be treated to new clothing, sneakers and school supplies, followed by an afternoon of theme park fun that includes a visit to “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter TM,” a chance to visit with Minions and experience the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride and “Super Silly Fun Land” play zone, and venture aboard the world-famous Studio Tour to experience the epic “Fast & Furious – Supercharged” thrill ride.

For the first time, Habitat for Humanity will join the “Day of Giving” roster with employee volunteers crafting elaborate playhouses to accompany homes built by the organization.

The day-long event will also send hundreds of employee volunteers around Los Angeles  to help support community-building efforts at the following organizations:  AIDS Project L.A. (APLA), where employees will volunteer at the North Hollywood food pantry and help assemble food bags for clients; Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where volunteers will visit patients, distribute gifts and assist with arts & crafts; Project Angel Food, where employee volunteers will prepare and package meals for terminally ill clients; and Shane’s Inspiration, where employees will take part in a “play date” with special needs children at a nearby Shane’s Inspiration playground.

Supported by Universal Studios Hollywood, Discover A Star Foundation is committed to making a significant impact in local underserved communities by providing grants to deserving non-profit organizations. Originally founded in 1995, Discover A Star’s mission is to provide financial assistance to neighboring nonprofit groups.  To date, Discover A Star Foundation has raised over $8 million and provided financial assistance to over 65 non-profit organizations.

Ratchet & Clank Animated Feature Release Date Change

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Boasts Butterbeer and British Eats

Universal City, CA, February 19, 2016 A foray through Hogsmeade village at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Hollywood will please the palate with an enticing array of savory fare and beverages, served up at the land’s Three Broomsticks™ and Hog’s Head pub as featured in the Harry Potter books and films, and where guests from around the world can dine on traditional British dishes and sample Butterbeer.

Carefully prepared by Universal Studios Hollywood’s executive chef and culinary team, the eclectic British menu will invite guests to step into Three Broomsticks, an aged rustic tavern, where they can enjoy authentic meals while seated at custom-made wooden tables, chairs and benches, in a warm and inviting atmosphere taken straight from the wizarding world.

Sample menu items include Bangers & Mash (savory grilled English sausages with creamy mashed potatoes and minted peas), Shepherd’s Pie (ground beef and vegetables, crowned with potatoes), Beef Sunday Roast (prime rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding and gravy), Beef, Lamb & Guinness Stew and Fish & Chips.  Rounding out the hearty fare are decadent treats such as Butterbeer potted cream and sticky toffee pudding.

Gathering inspiration from historic British taverns, the adjoining Hog’s Head pub features original draught beers and spirits created exclusively for the land, including Hog’s Head Brew, Dragon’s Scale, Wizard’s Brew and Fire Whisky.

Three Broomsticks also features a selection of scrumptious traditional English breakfast items, welcoming guests to start their day at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.”  Tempting menu choices include the Eggy Bread breakfast (French baguette, cut on the bias and served with bacon and Vermont maple syrup), as well as traditional English breakfast (fresh scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, black pudding, baked beans, baked tomato, sautéed mushrooms and potatoes) and traditional American breakfast (eggs, sausages, bacon and toast).

Springfield Opens at Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal City, California, May 12, 2015 – “Springfield,” hometown of America’s favorite family, The Simpsons, has officially opened at Universal Studios Hollywood, setting up residency in an elaborately immersive land situated adjacent to the theme park’s award-winning mega-attraction, “The Simpsons Ride.” To mark the occasion, Universal Studios Hollywood hosted a festive neighborhood block party attended by special guests Al Jean, the Executive Producer of The Simpsons, Nancy Cartwright, the voice of “Bart,” Yeardley Smith, the voice of “Lisa” and Joe Mantegna, the voice of “Fat Tony,” alongside Springfielders, Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa Simpson, Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob.

The new themed environment captures the spirit of Springfield, immersing visitors and fans in the world of “The Simpsons” like never before. Springfield at Universal Studios Hollywood features the many iconic landmarks made famous throughout the series’ mind boggling 26 seasons, including Springfield Elementary School, Comic Book Guy’s Android’s Dungeon, the cooling towers of Mr. Burns’ Nuclear Power Plant, the Springfield Police Station, the Aztec Theater and, of course, the Kwik-E-Mart.

The all-new Springfield culinary excursion will allow visitors to enjoy the places that helped it earn the distinction of being named “The Fattest Town” by the Duff Book of World Records. Guests will enjoy a “Genuine Clown-Endorsed Meal” at Krusty Burger, grab a slice that’s “a-nice” at Luigi’s Pizza, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” at Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck, or a platter of Chicken Thumbs at Cletus’ Chicken Shack. To satisfy one’s sweet tooth, guests can visit Phineas Q. Butterfat’s Ice Cream Parlor or go nuts for a Homer-sized helping of drool-worthy donuts at Lard Lad.

Universal Studios Announces Studio Tour Guide Casting Call

Universal City, California, April 16, 2015 – The race is on as Universal Studios Hollywood  casts a wide net in search of Studio Tour guides as the theme park prepares to introduce “Fast & Furious—Supercharged,” the new grand finale to the world-famous Studio Tour and the all-new “Nighttime Studio Tour” this summer in celebration of the theme park’s 50th anniversary.

Open call auditions will take place at Universal Studios Hollywood on May 4 from 2-4pm.

As one of the most progressive and exciting theme park experiences anywhere, Universal’s Studio Tour invites guests to enjoy a front row seat with behind-the-scenes access to one of the world’s largest movie and television production studios, led by expert Studio Tour guides, knowledgeable on the inner-workings of Hollywood.

As the destination readies for a blockbuster summer with the introduction of the “Fast & Furious—Supercharged” thrill ride and the “Nighttime Studio Tour,” more than 40 English, bilingual Spanish and Mandarin-speaking Studio Tour Guides will be hired to join an existing roster of nearly 100 guides.

Candidates interested in auditioning must possess the following attributes for consideration: friendly, engaging and enthusiastic; have a performance and/or public speaking background; are knowledgeable of film and television; have a charismatic live television camera presence; and must be at least 18 years of age.

They will need to come prepared with a resume and headshot and be available for a series of follow-up auditions on May 6 and final interviews the week of May 11.  Full-time employment will begin on May 26, beginning with three weeks of fun, intensive training.
