The Shining Coming to Halloween Horror Nights

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., ORLANDO, Fla. (May 19, 2017) – For the first time ever, the psychological  horror film, The Shining, will bring unspeakable terror to “Halloween Horror Nights” in terrifying new mazes opening at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort, beginning this September.

The twisted minds behind the nation’s best, most intense Halloween events will bring every gruesome moment and paranormal haunting that fans have seen in the film to life in original, disturbingly authentic mazes.

“The Shining” maze at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights will provide guests with a unique opportunity to relive some of the film’s most iconic, and sinister, moments.  While venturing through the eerie Overlook Hotel, guests will be thrust into the hotel’s tragic history of murder and madness, bearing witness to caretaker Jack Torrance’s spiraling descent into insanity. Nightmarish visions will come to life in this macabre maze, overwhelming guests with the “shine” of the murderous, ghostly entities that lurk around every turn – all while trying to escape the wrath of Jack Torrance as he violently succumbs to the hotel’s paranormal forces.

The Shining has been regarded as “a masterpiece of modern horror” by critics and fans alike. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, the film’s enormous influence on pop culture has been captured throughout a multitude of films, television shows, music and more since its disturbing debut in 1980.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Unveils VR Haunted Experience

ORLANDO, Fla. (August 12, 2016) – Universal Orlando Resort is unveiling a cutting-edge – and terrifying – interactive experience that will blend custom virtual reality technology with real-life characters and environments to create a whole new generation of psychological horror.

The twisted minds behind Universal Orlando’s award-winning Halloween Horror Nights have combined forces with Universal Creative, the creators of award-winning theme park attractions, to produce a next-level, immersive theater experience that seamlessly bridges live action and virtual reality (VR).

“The Repository” is an exclusive, limited-time attraction with an entirely unique storyline that will pave the way for even more brand new, best-in-class experiences across Universal Orlando Resort. Throughout this extended, heart-pounding adventure, guests will explore highly thematic physical environments and interact with real-life characters – all while working in small teams to solve a dark mystery unfolding before them. Universal Orlando is working with VRstudios (VRcade), a Bellevue, Washington company specializing in unique VR experiences. The company designed a first-of-its-kind VR platform to be used inside the experience.

“The Repository” will be available to guests during select Halloween Horror Nights events, beginning Sept. 29 and running through Oct. 31. Guests can upgrade their Halloween Horror Nights event ticket to become a part of the ultimate paranormal experience.

This limited-time experience can be purchased for $49.99 plus tax and will be available for purchase by calling 407-224-7840. Halloween Horror Nights admission is also required. Universal Orlando Annual Passholders can purchase tickets beginning August 16. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning August 23.

The dead of winter sets the stage for the terror that’s about to unfold one cold, dank and dreary Christmas Eve as the fabled anthropomorphic “half-goat, half-demon” horned creature emerges to terrorize those devoid of holiday spirit.  In scenes lifted from the film, guests will navigate the dysfunctional Engel family home to encounter the evil ancient spirit of Krampus – the dark shadow of Saint Nicholas – and his band of Dark Elves and sinister Gingerbread Men, who cause the family to fight to see the light of day.

Halloween Horror Nights Adds Two More Nights

Universal City, CA, October 20, 2015 – The terror of “Halloween Horror Nights” seeps into November for the first time ever as Universal Studios Hollywood extends its popular event with the addition of Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, inviting guests to brave Southern California’s most extreme horror event one last time. The cutting-edge Halloween event marks new nights with all-new content, including performances by the versatile dance group, Academy of Villains, and the talented DJ Ricky Rocks.

Hailed as the scariest, most gruesome annual Halloween theme park experience in Southern California, “Halloween Horror Nights” brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in a living, breathing, three-dimensional world of terror inspired by TV and film’s most compelling horror properties.

Energetic hip-hop dance performances by the Jabbawockeez headlining this year’s new show have proven so popular that Universal Studios Hollywood has added a special meet and greet opportunity for fans as part of its “Halloween Horror Nights” experience. The announcement comes after the third installment of the film, Insidious: Chapter 3, hit theaters to terrify moviegoers.

At both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando, event goers will be transported into some of the most sinister scenes from all three films in the Insidious franchise. Guests will investigate unexplained phenomena in the Lambert family’s eerie Victorian home and find themselves at the ghastly séance that unleashes chaos and horror. They’ll journey into “The Further” – a supernatural realm that houses tormented spirits – and face deadly ghosts and demons like the Woman in Black and Red-Faced Demon who will stop at nothing to infiltrate the world of the living.

Evil Dead Maze Announced for Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Orlando have announced that the new Evil Dead film will be brought to life at their Halloween Horror Nights event in the form of a haunted maze! Stay-tuned as we learn the rest of the Halloween Horror Nights haunted maze line up and our October-themed coverage ramps up! Looks like our favorite holiday is really right around the gruesome corner.

Universal Studios Announces 2012 Eyegore Awards

Universal Studios Hollywood kicks off “Halloween Horror Nights” with its annual Eyegore Awards. The eagerly-anticipated event honors individuals within the Hollywood entertainment community for bringing the most indelible and terrifying moments in the field of horror to life.

Special guests will include this year’s new Eyegore Awards host, McKenzie Westmore, host of Syfy’s “Face Off,” Chad Michael Murray (House of Wax and the upcoming film, The Haunting in Georgia), legendary rock-horror icon Alice Cooper, Adelaide Clemens (Silent Hill:  Revelation 3d), Angélica María and Angélica Vale (psychological thriller series “Mujeres Asesinas 2”), Diego Boneta (“Rock of Ages”), Wilmer Valderrama, Sid Haig, Bill Mosely.
