Gateshead, UK – May 15, 2014 – Two years after Auto Club Revolution’s introduction on PC, Eutechnyx today unveiled details of how the free-to-play motorsport experience is entering a new era. Nothing less than a full remodeling, this “2.0” version of the game begins on June 16 with the launch of a Closed Beta to get feedback from its long-time members of the ACR community. Select new players in various regions worldwide will also be admitted in stages. Oculus Rift functionality is deep in development and is currently in early experimental tests – a full ACR game will be playable when the new VR hardware is released to initial backers this Fall.

“We’ve spent two years laying the foundation of an authentic community-driven game for fans of automotive culture. We have hundreds of thousands of players worldwide that motivate us to push the ACR experience even further, and now we are bringing the best ideas to fruition,” says Dave Thompson, Development Director of ACR.

Already featuring over 50 of the world’s leading manufactured cars like McLaren, BMW, Ford and Bentley, a wide range of new manufacturers and car models have been added to the virtual lineup (such as RUF and Maserati), new interiors are to be added to boost the stunning level of detail. Fresh bespoke audio and engine sounds have also been reproduced to deliver an authentic sound experience for full player immersion. Players will now be able to create a 360 degree garage to admire their collection. Vehicle physics have been overhauled to not only enhance realism but also competitive fun.

Accessibility has been a key emphasis of ACR 2.0 – now only a single download is needed to jump into the action and start interacting with the community. “Our new single client is designed to make a bigger and better splash, pushing the quality of content and integrating new technologies that will further enhance player interaction. We have exciting times ahead of us and we can’t wait to share it with all our players. We strive to deliver content players want by providing a first-class, free-to-play online racing experience however possible,” says Dave Thompson.

New players will be able to register for the ACR Closed Beta from June 16 at http://www.autoclubrevolution.com/ and current players will have immediate access when the Closed Beta starts.

ACR - BMW 1-Series M Coupe Screenshot 2

24th April 2012, BMW M Sport Studio, Munich. Auto Club Revolution today launched the BMW Experience, allowing players the opportunity to drive BMW’s latest M Sports performance car, the BMW 1 Series M Coupé.

The BMW Experience offers visitors to BMW’s websites and social media channels a unique opportunity to drive the car in a specially built introduction to the Auto Club Revolution game. Players have the chance to customize their very own BMW 1 Series M Coupé which they can race on Victoria Harbour, the brand new race track, specially designed and built in conjunction with the BMW’s designers and designed to put the car through its paces.

Auto Club Revolution is a free-to-play online racing game and car community built in collaboration with the motor industry. Featuring officially licensed cars from BMW and over 50 of the world’s leading motor manufacturers, it delivers a console quality racing experience to the free-to-play market while providing a social platform for owning, customizing and enjoying cars online.

Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President Brand Communication BMW, Marketing services BMW Group: “Our customers are tech-savvy and love to be able to put their dream car together the way they want. Auto Club Revolution allows us to make our models accessible to a large number of car enthusiasts. It was extremely important to us that our models be portrayed realistically. In Eutechnyx we found a partner who shares our high quality standards – and we worked well together right from the start.”“It is always a real challenge to render a vehicle’s distinctive handling accurately in a game – generating the models from CAD data is just not enough. To reproduce the handling of the BMW 1 Series M Coupé in ACR in an authentic manner, we first took it out on the real racetrack. That is the only way to know exactly how the car corners, for example,” said Doug Wolff, ACR Team Lead.

Auto Club Revolution already features licensed content from over 50 car and over 150 upgrade parts manufacturers plus a raft of licensed race tracks including Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Daytona International Speedway , Silverstone, Infineon Raceway and the game’s range of custom race tracks. Auto Club Revolution’s progression model unlocks free cars at regular player levels and allows them to be upgraded using credits, which are earned during in game activities (such as racing).

From today, players can take part in the BMW Experience from BMW’s websites, or at http://bmw.autoclubrevolution.com

February 22, 2012 – The world of motorsports goes Daytona crazy this week as ‘The Great American Race’ hits Florida. Auto Club Revolution joins the excitement as the world famous Daytona International Speedway race tack is added to the game’s licensed track roster.

Auto Club Revolution is a free-to-play online racing game and car community built in collaboration with the motor industry. Featuring officially licensed cars from over 50 of the world’s leading motor manufacturers, it delivers a console quality racing experience to the free-to-play market while providing a social platform for owning, customizing and enjoying cars online.  The game features a wide range of custom and licensed race tracks including Silverstone, Circuit de Spa Francorchamps and from today, Daytona International Speedway.

“We’re heavily committed to bringing the best possible game content including cars, upgrade parts and race tracks to Auto Club Revolution”, said executive producer Doug Wolff. “When we see the ‘most requested track’ lists from our testers then Daytona – the American dream – is right up there alongside Silverstone and Spa”.

Hosting the first DAYTONA 500â in 1959, Daytona quickly entered the heart of every American motorsports fan and is now one of the most prestigious race tracks in the world hosting races from a wide range of motorsports including NASCAR, ARCA, AMA, Superbike, Grand-Am and Motocross.  The most famous event to be hosted at the 2.5 mile (4km) circuit is the world famous Daytona 500 NASCAR® Sprint Cup™ series season opener which takes place on February 26, 2012.

Joie Chitwood III, President of Daytona International Speedway said, “We pride ourselves on being the ‘World Center of Racing’.  So it’s very exciting for us to be on the cutting edge of online racing with Eutechnyx and Auto Club Revolution.  Motorsports fans around the globe will enjoy running all of the incredible cars in Auto Club Revolution along the world famous high banks of Daytona.”

The game’s lead designer, Matthew Clarke said, “Daytona is a great addition to Auto Club Revolution. It’s perfect for newcomers looking to get to grips with the racing experience but also an excellent track for the experienced racers looking to ‘sort the men from the boys’ with pack racing gameplay. When those huge, banked corners are looming on the horizon and flying towards you at 200+ mph, and the slightest nudge could send you crashing into the walls; it’s hard not to get excited by that intense feeling.”

Auto Club Revolution is currently in its Closed Beta test phase, with new invitations going out regularly and a number of key giveaways continuing with selected partner websites.  Applications to join the closed beta are on going at www.autoclubrevolution.com

Testers will have the opportunity to experience firsthand a version of Auto Club Revolution delivered specifically for Closed Beta.  Executive Producer, Doug Wolff said, “We’ve produced a specific game set-up for this test phase in order to help us properly scale test features, assess content and see how the Auto Club Revolution platform is shaped and used in a live environment.”
He continues, “For example, we’ve shortened the player level-up system and made the higher tiers (of cars) easier to reach so that we can properly test progression in a real world environment.  We’ll reset all of these elements when we move to ‘no invitation needed’ Open Beta at the next phase. This is a genuine live test so we’ve built an easy-to-use bug report and feature request ticketing system in order to provide real time feedback to our test players.”
