AirSplat Fan Appreciation Day 2013 Overview
Today marked AirSplat’s 2013 Fan Appreciation Day, which took place at the indoor airsoft arena, TacCity, in Fullerton, CA. The event began early this morning and went until 5:00pm. There were raffles, hammer tosses, product demos, vendor booths, a food truck, and all-day airsoft inside the venue. At 2:00pm, AirSplat hosted an airsoft game with customers facing off against employees and sponsors (including the poor sap from GamingShogun.com). So, the battle would be against the 20 or so of us vs about 50 customers. 300 much?!? Being an indoor arena, I had to make use of my lower-FPS airsoft gun,…
CAA Roni Pistol-Carbine Conversion for P226 Series Review (Airsoft)
CAA Airsoft sent us over one of their new CAA RONI Pistol-Carbine Conversion Kits for P226 series Airsoft handguns. These pistol-carbine conversion kits are making their way into all sorts of real steel applications these days. Naturally, the Airsoft world follows suit and creates equivalents for us BB-shooters out there. This new RONI Pistol-Carbine Conversion Kit promises to give pistoleers the increased accuracy and stability of a carbine without sacrificing the maneuverability of a pistol. The CAA RONI Pistol-Carbine Conversion Kit features a sweet, fold-out fore grip, QD sling points, multi-position stock with cheek riser, dual flip-up sights, extra magazine…
G&G Top Tech TR16 R4 Commando AEG Review
The G&G Top Tech TR16 R4 Commando blowback airsoft electric gun is a large model M4 meant for MilSim and field play. It features a full metal (quality aluminum) receiver – both upper and lower, as well as an included (and rock-solid) vertical foregrip and 450-round, hi-cap magazine. One of the most impressive features of this AEG is its pneumatic blowback system which generates a slight amount of vibration/feedback when fired. In addition, this blowback system also makes the AEG a bit louder than usual – especially when laying down a lot of fire. I also have to praise the hop-up system…

One of the sponsors for our Airsoft for Gamers article series, AirSplat, has created a very cool collection of gun listings from various video games with links to the equivalent Airsoft products. This is a great resource – whether you are looking to create a fan film, cosplay outfit, or just interested in picking up what your CoD character used in your last multiplayer match. http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-video-games.htm
Airsoft for Gamers #6: Comms
First, we would like to welcome our newest sponsors for the Airsoft for Gamers column: Airsplat.com, GiantSportz.com, and SC Village. GiantSportz and SC Village have granted us access to SC Viper in Norco so we can get better video footage and AirSplat has offered to send us some Airsoft guns to review on our website as well as use in this column. Now, on to business: Communications! Communicating within one’s squad as well with other squads can be key to winning your Airsoft game. If there is no communication, there is no planning, no sharing of information, no-win. The most…
Tachyon OPS HD Camera Review (Tech)
One of the coolest videos I saw when first researching the sport of Airsoft was taken from an M4 Carbine AEG’s front rail system. Looking into this further, the company behind the gun camera was Tachyon Inc. Tachyon makes durable cameras for not only action sports but, also, real-world military and law enforcement applications. The Tachyon Ops HD shoots 1280×720 video @ 30fps, using a 125 degree field of view. This makes it a more natural image without creating a fisheye effect. Additionally, the camera is capable of timelapse photography. In this mode, the camera will take one photo every 2 seconds. Unlike…
Airsoft for Gamers #5: Southern California Fields
In this edition of Airsoft for Gamers, we are going to take a look at some of the various Airsoft fields in the Southern California area. Southern California Airsoft fields vary in terrain, conditions, gun & equipment rules, and more. Hopefully, this overview will help you figure out the best place to spend your game time at. Outdoor Fields HSP Combat Center http://www.hspcombatcenter.com Located on the Hollywood Sports Park complex, the HSP Combat Center is one of the most well-known Airsoft fields in the area. Open Monday, Thursday, and Friday for night games and weekends for all-day play, the park…
Airsoft for Gamers #4: AEG Types
Last week, we got the chance to interview the leader of “Infidel”, a well-known Pro-Airsoft team. In this week’s Airsoft for Gamers entry, we take a look at the various types of AEGs (airsoft electric guns) and their uses. Before that, however, here is a video of one of our recent matches over at the HSP Combat Center: A Primer on Airsoft Electric Guns AEGs powered by electric motors represent the bulk of Airsoft guns used in games today. The concept behind the AEG is that the plastic BB is fired from down the barrel of the gun by way…
Gamer Fitness #2: Bowflex Uppercut
In this, the second of our Gamer Fitness articles for GamingShogun.com, I am taking a look at the new Uppercut strength trainer from Bowflex. The Uppercut is a resistance-based push-up assistance device that promises to define and sculpt your core, chest, and shoulders. The interesting thing about the Uppercut is that it helps train your upper body with several types of movements – not just traditional push-up motions. Assembly only takes about fifteen minutes and doesn’t need to be done again unless taken apart for storage purposes. However, this installation ended up trickier than I though. The Uppercut comes in…
CAA M4 Carbine Airsoft Rifle Review (Airsoft)
This M4 Carbine is fully licensed by CAA Airsoft, which is well-known as CAA for its real steel weapon conversions and parts, including the RONI pistol to carbine conversion package that has been turning heads recently. CAA Airsoft’s M4 Carbine AEG features full metal construction, realistic weight, and the aggressive style that CAA is known for. Unlike most M4 AEGs which feature a metal upper-receiver but nylon lower half, this one is all metal. From a design perspective, the CAA Airsoft M4 is nearly identical to its live-fire counterpart. From the three rail hand guard to the cheek riser-equipped stock, it is easy to see…
Airsoft for Gamers #3: Infidel Airsoft Team Interview
This week, we were initially going to do a rundown of various AEGs by type and give a primer on their usage. However, we ended up getting the opportunity to ask “WarJunkie” of the Infidel Airsoft team some questions about the game of Airsoft, how their team functions, and more! Q) When and how did the Infidel Airsoft team get its start? We started out playing out in the desert down where I live in Blythe, California. After playing a few times, we all decided to get serious and made the team. We started out as “SoCal Desert Spec Ops” and…
