First Annual HASCON Tickets On Sale Now

The Jim Henson Company and McFarlane Announce Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal Figures

Tempe, AZ and Hollywood, CA – May 19, 2017The Jim Henson Company has partnered with McFarlane Toys, which will harken back to its roots of “Movie Maniacs” to create figures of classic characters from two of Henson’s most well-known features Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.

Directed by visionary Jim Henson and executive produced by George Lucas, Labyrinth is a fanboy favorite and wonder of puppetry. Stuck babysitting her brother, teenager Sarah, resentfully wishes The Goblin King (memorably portrayed by David Bowie) can take him away. When her wish comes true, Sarah must head into the Labyrinth herself to save him. Since its 1986 release the film has garnered a cult popularity and is still reveled in today’s era as a timeless classic.

The Dark Crystal, directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, brilliantly weaves a timeless myth of good and evil. In another time, The Dark Crystal, a source of balance and truth in the universe, was broken, dividing the world into two factions; the wicked Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. Now, as the convergence of the three suns approaches, the crystal must be healed, or darkness will reign forever. The Dark Crystal’s fanbase has only risen since the film’s debut and has also developed a cult following of fans across the world.

McFarlane Toys has produced highly detailed figures and construction sets for various entertainment properties and this collaboration with The Jim Henson Company will give fans of these iconic films new and unique action figures that are “true to life” replicas of their on-screen personas.

The upcoming toys will include a 7-inch figure of Labyrinth’s Jareth The Goblin King, and for The Dark Crystal, fans can look forward to figures of Jen and Kira. Each figure will be highly detailed and come fully articulated to recreate infamous movie scenes. These figures will also debut in new window box collector packaging and will come with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal branded detailed bases.

Midsummer Scream’s Scream Park Presentation Schedule

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow Teaser Trailer

May 17, 2017 – Jam City, via its game studio TinyCo, FoxNext Games, and Matt Groening today released a new fully-animated teaser trailer for Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, a new game coming soon to mobile devices. Created in partnership with FUTURAMA creator and Executive Producer Matt Groening and his Curiosity Company, along with Executive Producer David X. Cohen, original FUTURAMA writers, and Rough Draft Studios, the teaser is the first new animation from the FUTURAMA universe since the show’s original TV run ended in 2013. Jam City is working with the writers, animators, and cast to produce even more original animation that will have fans waving their tentacles in the air.

“I’m proud to say that Futurama lives! In mobile-video-game teaser trailer form, anyway,” said Matt Groening, creator of FUTURAMA and THE SIMPSONS. “If you squint, it’s kind of like a little episode!”

“Working on this new Futurama animation has been a thrilling adventure,” said David X. Cohen. “I finally understand how Neil Armstrong must have felt when he first landed on the lunar surface, watched some funny cartoons on the control screen, and did whatever else was on his schedule that day.”

Jam City also released more details about gameplay itself. Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow will blend simulation, combat, galactic exploration, and choose-your-own-adventure mechanics together to bring the escapades of the Planet Express crew to life. The game features two main settings: New New York, which focuses on simulation and character progression gameplay, and Space Adventures, in which players will explore and battle their way through planets, nebulas, and other weird stuff across the FUTURAMA universe.

In New New York, players will focus on rescuing characters, collecting special items and materials, expanding their characters’ capabilities by leveling them up and crafting ability-defining character outfits, and tackling story-driven quests. Events that occur in New New York will often move the game’s overarching narrative forward, by allowing players to assemble a crew of their favorite FUTURAMA characters and take to the stars for Space Adventures. While traversing the depths of space, players will fight alien enemies in retro arcade-style combat, rendered in beautiful 16-bit graphics, and explore strange lands in which their choices determine their fate.

“The Futurama universe is chock-full of exotic planets inhabited by wacky creatures (and Smizmars),” said Josh Yguado, Co-Founder, President and COO of Jam City. “Whether you’re counseling an alien overlord on Omicron Persei 8 or battling rogue robots on the streets of Chapek 9, exploring this crazy universe and interacting with its denizens will be a blast.”

Comic Con Revolution 2018 Dates Announced

New York, NY May 17, 2017 –  Comic Con Revolution, The Inland Empire’s first full scale comic con, opened big attracting 5449 unique attendees.  This number does not include exhibitors or staff.  Organizers, Atomic Crush Events (ACE), have announced that the event will return to the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario California for two days in 2018 – May 19 & 20.

“We wanted to create something special for Ontario and the entire Inland Empire to call their own,” said ACE Co-Founder Gabe Fieramosco.  “We can’t thank them, as well as our exhibitors and guests, enough for the support they showed us.  Long live the 909!  Can’t wait to see you all again next year.”

“[Comic Con Revolution] reminded me of San Diego Comic Con before the movie studios took over.  It was just about the comics,” said attendee Ronald Scott of Claremont, California.

Comic Con Revolution will grow in 2018 taking over both exhibit halls as well as the Mayoral Ballroom.  The event will add additional features including a Professional Creator’s Summit on Friday, May 18th, play host to the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles as they complete their Comic Book Artist badge while growing the exhibitor and guest lists.

“We are already hard at work laying the foundation for next year’s Comic Con Revolution,” said ACE Co-Founder Mike Scigliano.  He added, “And we’ll spend the next 12 months preparing an even bigger and better experience.”

Disney Channel and Disney XD Stars to Attend D23 Expo

BURBANK, Calif. (May 17, 2017) – Disney Channel, Disney XD, and Disney Junior will present one-of-a-kind experiences for kids and families during D23 Expo 2017, the ultimate Disney fan event, taking place FRIDAY, JULY 14SUNDAY, JULY 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The lineup includes star-studded Q&A panels featuring the talented voice casts of Disney XD’s highly anticipated DuckTales series and Disney Channel’s Tangled: The Series, plus a special appearance by the stars and director of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants 2. Disney Channel and Disney XD cast members from Stuck in the Middle, Bizaardvark, K.C. Undercover, Walk the Prank, and MECH-X4 will greet fans at the D23 Expo’s Talent Central throughout the weekend.

On FRIDAY, JULY 14, Descendants 2 stars Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson and Booboo Stewart, along with Kenny Ortega, the Emmy Award-winning director, executive producer, and choreographer, will make a special appearance.

On SATURDAY, JULY 15, Disney XD’s DuckTales stars Ben Schwartz (the voice of Dewey), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley) will join executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer/story editor Francisco Angones for a Q&A panel taking place from 4:15– 5:15 p.m. on Stage 28.

On SUNDAY, JULY 16, fans are invited to join the stars and creative team of Disney Channel’s Tangled: The Series for a Q&A panel as they share some of the magic behind bringing the series to life.  Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, who reprise their roles as Rapunzel and Eugene (AKA Flynn Rider) from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ acclaimed feature film, will be joined by executive producer Chris Sonnenburg, co-executive producer Ben Balistreri, and Broadway stars Eden Espinosa (Cassandra) and Jeremy Jordan (Varian).  The panel will take place from 10:30–11:30 a.m. on Stage 28.

Fans of Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins are invited to visit McStuffins Toy Hospital Nursery, which will be on the Expo show floor during the entire three-day event. Young visitors can give the toy babies a checkup, as well as be among the first to play the new Doc McStuffins Baby app, set to launch this summer. The McStuffins Toy Hospital Nursery is part of Doc McStuffins: The Exhibit, a traveling museum exhibit designed to model “care and compassion” for kids ages 2-7 via immersive activities that reinforce the importance of health and well-being.

XField Paintball 3 Release Date

TOULOUSE, FRANCE – (MAY 17, 2017) XField Paintball Studio, the world’s leading creator of authentic paintball games, today announced it will release XField Paintball 3, the first real-time multiplayer paintball game for PC, on Steam May 30, 2017. XFP3 is a fast-paced, tactical multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) game that challenges players to lead their team to victory in 5v5 matches. The game is officially licensed by 20 top paintball organizations and manufacturers and exclusively features the actual tournament layouts used in league competitions. XFP3 was developed from the ground up for PC using a new proprietary network engine.

Paintball is third-most popular extreme sport worldwide, with over ten million players participating per year. There are six major leagues worldwide, including NXL in the US and Millennium in Europe, and all six are exclusively licensed in the game. XField Paintball Studio is actively involved in the sport, and top players on the development team include Lead Community Manager, Loic Voulot, a two-time world champion who is Technical Director of the French Federation of Paintball and holder of seven European championship titles and nine French titles as captain of les Tontons, one of the greatest European paintball teams in history.

In the sports-based FPS game, players will use coordination, communication, and marksmanship to win matches. Paintballs curve as they move toward their target, allowing players to rain down shots on players even with cover, allowing for different strategies. Before each match, a captain is randomly selected to lead each team. The captain quickly sets the team strategy and assigns the roles of Rusher, Shooter, and Tactician to the five players. Each role gets certain bonuses—for instance, the Rusher gets enhanced speed—and each plays a different tactical role. In-game communication is handled via pre-scripted button presses with a unique twist: Each communication costs a certain number of communication points, and points are limited for each match so players must choose carefully. Once the match starts, the action goes quickly with the winning team being the first to eliminate all adversaries, hit the buzzer on the enemy team’s side of the field, or have the best position at the end of round.

XField Paintball 3 is developed and published by XField Paintball Studio, a mix of 12 seasoned veterans and up and comers dedicated to making an innovative real-time multiplayer paintball game that delivers all the strategy and tactics of the paintball competition. The game is powered by the studio’s proprietary creation, a custom designed FPS-Sport multiplayer hybrid engine.
