GamingShogunWizard World LA 2008 - Overview of Our Trip

Well Shogunites, we returned from our trip to the Wizard World 2008 comics and pop culture event at the LA Convention Center. The event was setup in half of the South Hall - which was very weird to see without sixty thousand E3 attendees - as well as some meeting rooms nearby. In the South Hall they had a merchandise row, artist signing area, tabletop gaming section for people to relax and play, as well as some area for the celebrity guests to sit in their respective booths and sign autographs.

We saw several entertaining things throughout the course of the day, most notably a panel with the creators of Robot Chicken which just cracked us up royally (look for our footage from that panel soon). After Dark Films gave us a glimpse at Frontier(s), a movie that was removed from the After Dark Horrorfest 2007 line-up for being an NC-17 flick. Also on-hand signing autographs was the lovely, as always, Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles).

One thing that was intriguing to me was the very low number of cosplayers in attendance for a (mainly) comic convention. There were, however, plenty of Star Wars characters on-hand, most dressed in excellent costuming. We also ran into Nightmare Armor's Gears of War squad as well as some dude dressed up like a spandex Predator. We love our fellow geeks!

Over the next week we will be releasing different segments from the event, including footage from the aforementioned Robot Chicken panel to your ever-hungry eyes.

Some images from inside the South Hall after the break.
