Tonight, a couple of us intrepid reporters got the chance to brave Knott’s Scary Farm, well – the Death Star II phase Knott’s Scary Farm, as they put their monster talent through what is known as “scare school”. This means that the talent gets to scare management sans costumes or makeup and learn how to utilize their environments as much as possible prior to the park opening. Tonight’s scare school took place in the mazes “Trick or Treat” and “Uncle Willie’s Slaughterhouse”. We also got a chance to walk through some of the new mazes this year, such as the Houdini-themed “Black Magic”, the Western setting of “Gunslinger’s Grave”, and the Poe-esque maze of “Forevermore”. Checkout out our photos below:

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat looks to be shaping up really well this year. We got to walk through twice while the talent rehearsed and they all seemed to making the most out of their locations and characters.

Uncle Willie’s Slaughterhouse

Once again, Uncle Willie’s gave us the, well, “willies”. The Slaughterhouse is back and has added on several new rooms with tons of gore and grime to scare guests.

Gunslinger’s Grave

We couldn’t photograph much of this one as it is still getting finishing touches, but the Western setting seems like a no-brainer for Knott’s Berry Farm. The sets look really cool and well-detailed.

Forevermore

Again, we could only shoot a couple rooms in this one, but the set dressing is amazing and there is plenty of gore dressing the pages of Poe’s work gone awry.

Black Magic

An unexpected stop in the evening was that of the Houdini-themed Black Magic. This maze has some cool effects and gimmicks that I have not seen before in a Knott’s Scary Farm maze. Looking forward to seeing it up and running.

Misc Photos

We would like to thank Knott’s Berry Farm’s Leidy Arévalo and Jason Soyster for making this tour possible!
